Kuldeep Thakur, the man who rammed his car into a 23-year-old’s bike leading to his death in Gurugram, failed to produce a valid driving licence before the police after the incident. The accused driver was driving on the wrong side when the collision took place early in the morning on September 15, with a video of the incident surfacing online.
The instrument cluster of the accused’s vehicle has been seized by the police and sent for investigation. This will help police ascertain the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident, further allowing them to frame relevant charges against the accused.
Senior police officials said that the accused can be charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) once they get access to the forensic report.
The footage of the accident was caught on a camera mounted on the bike of the victim’s friend. He stated that the police didn’t seize the footage, and it wasn’t until three days later, after Kuldeep Thakur had already been released on bail, that the police reached out to him for the footage.
According to official records accessed by India Today, Kuldeep Thakur had a history of traffic violations. Thakur, a repeat offender, was previously issued challans for driving and parking on the wrong side, with the most recent one coming on August 24.
The vehicle driven by Kuldeep Thakur carried a sticker of Gaurav Gautam, the BJP candidate from the Palwal Assembly constituency.
The accused runs a public relations, advertising and political communications agency, All Axis Media, based in Ghitorni. The pro-BJP Facebook page ‘Ek Vichaar Bhajpa Sarkar’, which has amassed over 208,000 followers, was handled by All Axis Media, while a different company associated with his business partner ran anti-BJP campaigns in Haryana.
According to Meta’s Ad Library report, All Axis Media has spent Rs 36,229 on paid promotions for posts on ‘Ek Vichaar Bhajpa Sarkar’, which frequently targets political rivals, including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
